We begin with The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard: September 11-26. Imagine yourself enjoying a relaxing night out at the theatre, when you find yourself being drawn into the play and becoming a part of it. This might be entertaining, but when the play is a murder mystery and the bodies are piling up, it's overwhelming. This is the situation two theatre critics find themselves caught up in when they set out to review a formulaic mystery in London's West End. Each is obsessed with his own failings and inadequacies which provide the bait to lure them into the trap. The Real Inspector Hound is clever and witty and will definitely make you laugh. We follow with The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare: November 20-December 5. One of Shakespeare's earliest plays, also one of his silliest. It all revolves around numerous instances of mistaken identity involving two sets of identical twins with a heavy dose of slapstick thrown in. Not exactly high art, but still a great deal of fun. For our winter play we present Richard II by William Shakespeare: February 19-March 6. Written about the same time as The Comedy of Errors, Richard II has a very different tone. The king does what the king must not do and what follows is the favorite pastime of medieval nobility - death, destruction, and intrigue. For spring we lighten up again with Ring 'Round the Moon by Jean Anouilh: May 7-22. Set during a glamourous society ball in post-war France, this play also involves a set of twins; but these twins are identical in appearance only. One schemes against the other and servants scheme against masters. Silliness breaks out all over as everyone tries to keep their illusions going.
